THE BULGARIAN GOVERNMENT APPROVES A DRAFT AGREEMENT WITH ROMANIA ON COOPERATION IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS

The Council of Ministers approved a draft intergovernmental agreement with Romania for cooperation in emergency situations.  The agreement sets out the general legal framework for cooperation on prevention, readiness, and response in the event of large-scale emergencies, natural and man-made disasters and fires, as well as terms and conditions for assistance in the event of a disaster.

 

The document regulates mutual support for the supply of rescue teams’ equipment; exchange of experience and good practice in the development of applied science and research tasks in the field of fire safety and protection of the population; exchange of information on sources of risk, especially the ones causing disasters with cross-border implications;  joint activities to achieve interoperability of communication and information systems; early warning and reporting  systems and others.

 

The agreement contains provisions on the coordination and management of assistance operations, border crossing procedures, the possible use of aircrafts, and others.
